Captain Andy O’Shea FRAeS

Captain Andy O’Shea is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and is widely regarded as a leader in the pilot training industry. He has been a professional pilot for 40 years including 27 in Ryanair. As Ryanair’s Head of Training he managed all pilot and cabin crew training as grew safely and efficiently from twenty-five B737 200s to four hundred and sixty B737 800 aircraft. He is an experienced airline pilot, instructor, senior examiner and professional pilot training manager. At a conservative estimate he has trained, or managed the training of, over 10,000 pilots as they progressed to their first multi-pilot airplane (MPA) type rating and airline career.

Andy works on committees and groups that seek to shape policy and regulation by providing professional advice to European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) through the Aircrew Training Policy Group and globally through the Royal Aeronautical Society Training Group.

Roisin spent several years managing APS MCC course administration in an ATO that was partners with the largest LCC in Europe.

After 18 years at the leading edge of airline pilot training and operations, Andy O’Shea retired as Head of Training in Ryanair in May 2019. Continuing his constant quest for increased standards of aircrew training and safety, he has established a network of partners and specialists that share his passion and vision. Aviation Partners and Specialists is a centre of excellence from which Andy can deliver aircrew training solutions to airlines and ATOs. Drawing on Andy’s experience and network of outstanding specialists, APS can form short or long-term partnerships with airlines or ATOs to improve safety, standards and efficiency.
